About me:
Growing up along the shores of California, water was always a part of my life. I grew up surfing, swimming and boating in Southern California. In 2004, while living in Santa Cruz, I was first introduced to the sport of stand up paddling.
A career in the restaurant industry brought me inland to Napa, Ca. where the closest surf break is 45 minutes away. Yearning to be back on a board and back on the water, I tested the waters in my own backyard, the Napa River. Impressed by the paddling conditions and the opportunity to be active on the water again, I began regularly stand up paddle boarding the Napa River in 2012.
Since then, my fondness of the Napa River has grown and paddling continues to help me alleviate stress and keep fit. I wish to share my enthusiasm for the sport and the Napa River through stand up paddle boarding lessons, classes and organizing group paddles and river clean-ups.
When I am not coaching, I enjoy competing in SUP races through out California and triathlons.
The following are the details of my service:
Encompassing approximately 55 miles, the Napa River is one of the most underutilized and under appreciated rivers in the North Bay. What most do not know is that it offers a quiet, scenic setting, with warmer weather than you will find anywhere else on the water this close to San Francisco. And, high tide on the river offers miles and miles of prime paddling conditions.
I aim to provide fun, fitness and community on the Napa River through SUP lessons, SUP fitness & yoga and equipment rentals. While Stand Up Paddling might seem quite simple, learning proper technique, safety and local river knowledge from day-one will save you from developing bad habits and/or making costly mistakes. Taking a lesson will ensure you’re paddling on the river with confidence (and efficiency) in no time. Beginner and intermediate paddlers are welcome and those who wish to explore other aspects of the sport like paddle fitness.
If you’re ready to improve your SUP skills or try this sport for the first time, my SUP lessons will provide you with the training and techniques that you need to succeed! We feature private, semi-private and large group lessons catered to your individual/group needs. All instruction includes a paddle board, paddle and pfd and begin on land before heading out on the water with me by your side.
