This hike takes you on a tour of the south face of Mt. Tamalpais, or Mt. Tam as we call it, which has a little bit of everything; views, redwoods, and running streams. We’ll have amazing views of the San Francisco Bay and the coast for much of the hike. We’ll start our hike by descending a bit on the mountain, taking in the sweeping views of the bay. We’ll make a brief stop at the historic West Point Inn to have a little refreshment. Then we’ll descend on a trail into the quiet of a young redwood forest, before making our way to open trails with more views. We’ll pass by the West Point Inn again and then back to our vehicle. A good overview of the best of Mt. Tam. Note: Mt. Tamalpais can be foggy, especially in summer. Given the altitude of this hike, we should be above the fog line, but there is always a chance we will have fog on our hike. In the rare event there is a cloud sitting on the top of Mt. Tam, our alternate hike will be the Alpine Lake hike.
