My name is Nathan VanNortwick. I am a running coach based out of Oakland, California and I specialize in distance and trail running.
I didn’t really start running until after college, when I moved to Oakland and a friend convinced me to start running the lake with him. At first it was miserable, but then, as I improved over time, and began running with greater ease, I really began to love it. Then, after signing up for a trail 50k, I started running longer distances (50-mile, 100k, 100-mile), in more beautiful locales, and I have developed a love of distance trail running that continues to motivate and inspire me to get outdoors and run.
My goal as a coach is to help others train well (the right things, in right amounts, and the right intensities, depending on the person) so they can run faster, with greater ease, and with less risk of injury. This is my passion as a coach: to help others discover the joy of moving free.
